展望所
Viewing Area
陸奥湾はもとより、晴れた日には遠くの下北半島や津軽半島の一部も展望できます。
眼下には縄文人が環状列石をつくるために石を運んだと考えられる「荒川」が流れます。
From here you can see the Shimokita and Tsugaru Peninsulas, weather permitting.
The Arakawa River, which Jomon people arebelieved to have used to transport stones for the circle, can be seen from this area as well.
石はどこから
環状列石に用いられた石の多くは、遺跡の近くを流れる「荒川」から運ばれたものと考えられています。
しかし、必要な石を1ヵ所の地点ですべてまかなうのは難しいため、広い範囲から石が採取されていたものと思われています。
Origin of the Stones
Many of the stones that form the stone circle are believed to be brought from the Arakawa River, which runs near the site.
